Thornton was instrumental in the rebranding of Centric as ‘The First Network Designed for Black Women and then again into BET Her. Thornton recently authored her first book Stratechic: Life and Career Winning Strategies for Women. She wanted to write a book that encouraged women to build a plan that would allow them to tap into the strategies they were born with.

Major Media & Casting, LLC principal Evan Majors is a Casting Director and Talent Executive with 10+ years experience specializing in casting multiplatform, high profile non-scripted TV series, pilots and docu-series directly for cable and TV networks, as well as commercials, digital campaigns for national and global brands, as well as branded content.  He was formerly Head Casting Producer for Sean “Diddy” Combs’ multiplatform music network Revolt TV in Los Angeles, and Manager of Talent Development & Casting for Discovery Communications. Most recently, Evan cast an A+E Networks pilot executive produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, as well as an upcoming series for Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN). In addition, Evan has cast commercials and digital campaigns for global brands such as AMEX, Mercedes Benz and Chevron and cast YouTube Red’s first original digital series, The Prank Academy. In his spare time, Evan is an avid reader, long-distance runner and is also Op-Ed writer for Bleu Magazine writing about social justice issues as well as fashion and culture.

"One woman, many faces, one creator many talents," is how Squeaky Moore likes to describe herself.  As a writer, director, and producer, Squeaky’s mission is to enlighten, uplift, and inspire.  Squeaky’s career path—one designed to artistically address socially conscious issues and invoke discussion for the greater good — lies at the very core of who she is, and is continually reflected in her work.


A Chicago native, Squeaky received an MFA from Roosevelt University’s Conservatory.  A natural storyteller with a “gift for gab,” she began using her gifts in 1999 after she created and staged a variety show, “Ack Like U know”, which served as a catalyst to her starting her production company, Moore Squeaky Productions.  


Squeaky has been featured in Huffington Post, Centric-TV, Madamenoire, Bossip, The Examiner, News One, Amsterdam News, and forecasted a ‘woman to watch,’ in Ambition Magazine for her work as a producer, director, and writer.

Cassandre Charles is Vice President, Client Solutions, at ESSENCE magazine. In this role, she is responsible for leading the brand’s marketing initiatives and event sponsorship strategy—as well as bringing innovative advertising concepts to fruition, which include digital, native, insights and the expansion of our branded video offerings. In addition, she works closely with ESSENCE’s editorial team to develop unique 360 degree programs that will enable the ESSENCE sales teams to sell cutting-edge, custom advertising solutions.


Cassandre is an award-winning, passionate and performance driven digital media sales & marketing leader with more than 15 years of experience in managing multiple facets of client programs, including digital strategy development, campaign execution, implementation, analytics, and reporting. Over the past decade, through strategic roles within Integrated Marketing and Sales Development, Cassandre has distinguished herself as a great leader and an invaluable asset to the brand.

Co-Host, Yes, Girl! podcast

Cori Murray is the Entertainment Director for ESSENCE and co-host of its first podcast, Yes, Girl! For the magazine, she books and edits the celebrity cover stories and features; and curates the Scene section. Murray wrangles talent for ESSENCE’s signature award season events: Black Women in Music (which she also hosts) and the Black Women in Hollywood Awards. (The later has been broadcasted as an OWN TV special since 2015 and garnered over 1.5 billion media impressions.) She represents the brand as a cultural critic for several media outlets, including CNN, MSNBC, BET/Centric, The New York Daily News and FOX 5-TV’s Good Day New York. Murray is a regular moderator for many film and TV studios, record companies and festivals, including: Toronto International Film Festival, American Black Film Festival and Urban World Film Festival as well as Columbia Records, Atlantic Records, Warner Bros. Pictures, HBO and Starz Networks. She became an associate member of The Recording Academy in January 2017.
